Simply place an old CD (AOL anyone?) on the gramophone, speak into the paper cup, and etch your record, which can then be played back on this (or another) Berliner Gramophone.

<li>Takes about an hour to assemble; no special tools required
</li>
<li>Not just CDs, but any smooth, relatively firm materials can be used: Ramen lids, magazine covers, glossy photos.</li>
<li>Exchange audio messages through the mail with another owner by recording on a postcard!</li>
<li>Experiment with different materials for different sound production.</li>
